The Ancient Holm Oaks and their magnificent seed pods

This collaborative project was formed by a group of artists calling ourselves the hermits. Collectively interested in museums, archives, stories and myth we came together to create an eclectic mix of objects to form a fantasy history of Cornwall.

Through Linda's expertise, I started to properly play around with clay for this project which lead me to create 5 large and other smaller seed pod sculptures. The larger pods weren't fired and will likely be returned to the earth in the future. For this project we did a group pit-firing in which I fired a selection of small 'companion' pods, bundled in plant matter and fabric.
