✷ DRAWING//PRINT ✷

The triptych (above) of mono-print and drawing is called Seed Pod Dreams, as I literally had a dream in which I was walking through fields and forests collecting seeds, seaweeds, thistles and budded twigs (as I often do) and everything around me starting to morph and change into giant friendly seed pods similar to my clay sculptures. I danced along with these creatures, feeling at home and safe with them around me, it was a beautiful dream.
The triptych (below) of mono-prints is called The Seeds of Old, made for the collaborative show Phantasmagorical Histories, I explored the wild and wonderful ideas of ancient trees and how I imagined them dancing across the world with roots as long as rivers and seeds as big as caves.
I enjoy the simplicity and texture that I can get with mono-printing, through playing with colours and paper they show my vivid dream-like imaginings come to life.

I have found myself exploring drawing and printmaking together and separately from very early on in my creativity. I enjoy the mixture of text within visuals, adding a composition of context, poetry and emotion to what i'm seeing and sharing.
I often combine drawings of objects and plants with fictitious imaginings of natural and ephemeral things, they dance together in my head so i enjoy getting them down on paper.

meet me when the tide comes in,
and the seaweed dances...
when the moon is bright,
We can play amongst the holm oaks,
and trace their roots through the earth
they'll lead us somewhere secret...
